Purpose + Fashion = Real Life

Why we do what we do…

We thought about what we do in real life and how many important organizations are involved in protecting or supporting these amazing activities and experiences. These organizations are dedicated to protecting what matters to us and we wanted to say thanks! And why not do it with fashion? We are still kids after all, and it is a fun way to express our appreciation!

Scuba.

My parents and I recently got scuba certified. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has prevented us from scuba diving. During our certification processs, we learned more about how plastic in the ocean actually affects the ocean and our planet. Because of this, we chose Project Aware for this icon. Project Aware takes action and creates change in the world. Project aware made a group called “Shark League for Atlantic and Mediterranean Oceans.” Together they want to help make it so that sharks and rays stop getting overfished. Lake Life.

One of the best things about my summer is going up to my family cabin in Big Bear, CA. One super cool thing about Big Bear is the Bald Eagle Cam. The Bald Eagle Cam is a camera people put up in a tree. The camera records the bald eagles and people can watch it online at Youtube.com.  Because of this very special thing my family and I decided to choose American Eagle Foundation as this non-profit. The American Eagle Foundation educates you on the different types of eagles, where they live, what kind of climate they need and many more things. They rehabilitate, protect, educate, inspire, and repopulate. Movies.

Lights, Camera, Closed?! Because of Covid-19 movie theaters have had to close. Going to the movies was something fun you could do if it was a rainy day or you had nothing else to do. One thing I missed in the summer of 2020 was going to the movies with my family, friends, or nanny. That is why we chose the Santa Barbara Film Festival for this non-profit. The Santa Barbara Film Festival (SBIFF) helps inspire people to show their creativity in so many different ways. They have programs to help kids learn how to use all the filming equipment. They also let anyone vote if they want to. Click here to go to their website.

Exploring.

In 6th grade, my class was lucky enough to go to CIMI (Catalina Island Marine Institute). It was one of the best experiences that I have ever had. CIMI is on the Channel Islands National Park. For that reason, we chose the National Park Foundation. This Foundation helps protect nature, people connect to nature, and inspires people through nature. They help kids and adults enjoy the outdoors. If you want to experience a national park go to their online quiz, “Find Your Park.” Take this quiz to discover which National Park you would like the most. Softball.png

Softball.

Softball is one of the best parts of… well, Spring, Summer, and Fall. My Dad always coaches me. That is kind of our thing that we get to do together. My dad picked a great team but, sadly, because of Covid-19 we did not get to play softball in 2020 and my friends and I are all very disappointed. I usually play for GVGSA (Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association). So, that is what we chose for the softball icon, GVGSA. GVGSA encourages girls to get outside and be a team with their friends. They teach young girls how to become big softball stars. GVGSA makes getting exercise awesomely fun. Click here to go to their website.

Climbing.

One activity that I was fortunate enough to have was taking a trip Yosemite (with my cousins and grandparents) during Covid-19. My family and I care about preserving our national parks which is why we chose the National Park Foundation. This foundation helps protect nature, helps people connect to nature, and inspires people through 3 different programs. They help kids and adults enjoy the outdoors. If you want to experience a national park go to their quiz, “Find Your Park.” Take this to see which national park you would like the most. Click here to go to the National Park Foundation website.

Surfing.png

Surfing.

The ocean is one of the best parts of living in Santa Barbara. You can go to the ocean whenever you want. But, with Covid-19 some beaches are closed. Beaches are a huge part of our world, but we keep polluting them. Eventually, people like me won't be able to surf without getting sick. This is why we chose Project Aware. Project Aware takes action and creates change in the world. They made a group called “Shark League for Atlantic and Mediterranean Oceans.” Together they want to help make it so that sharks and rays stop getting overfished. Click here for the the website.

Dogs.

Our rescue pets are a huge part of our family. During this tough time, they have given us so much love and are very important to our family. We chose the Santa Barbara Humane Society because they help animals in need. The Santa Barbara Humane Society rescues homeless animals and takes care of them. We chose the Humane Society for three reasons: 1) The Humane Society is not only a good cause, it is also fun to go to. 2) They offer dog training to help you train your dog. We trained our dog there and it worked like magic. 3) They connect rescue animals with families to find forever homes. Click here to visit their website and learn more.
